New Blue Jacket 40 Performance Sailboat from Veteran Builders Bob Johnson and Tim Jackett

Expect to see news at upcoming boat shows and boating publications about Blue Jacket Yachts. This will be a new line of performance sailboats and is a collaboration between former Tartan and C&C president and chief designer, Tim Jackett and Island Packet CEO and chief designer, Bob Johnson. Anyone who follows this market knows that Jackett and Johnson have many award winning designs so this promises to be an interesting development.
The Blue Jacket 40 will be a three cabin, one head layout with an option for a two cabin version and is reported to be a more luxurious “performance” sailboat.

There will be “twin” wheels and the sail plan includes a working jib with a self-tending Hoyt Boom. There will also be a large reacher for offwind work. Construction features all-VE resin infusion technology with Divinycell coring for both hull and deck.

Everyone in the industry will be watching and will be anxious to see this new entry in the performance yacht industry with a strong influence from a cruising yacht builder.
