New Anchoring Rule in Georgia

Possible New Anchoring Rules In Georgia

Traffic on the Intracoastal Waterway in Georgia may soon be affected if proposed legislation passes in Georgia. Both north and south traffic could be affected by this proposal as well as access to anchorages. The proposal would limit overnight or longer anchoring as well as making a permit and fees a requirement. Part of the language of this bill would also makes revisions about where liveaboard boats can be located. Many boating organizations have expressed their concern about this legislation. This would not only be a concern for Georgia boaters but for many who make regular trips up and down the coast. With restrictions already in place in Florida, boaters’ options are dwindling in this area. These new proposed rules are something all boaters should keep a watch on and urge the organizations they are a part of to lobby and speak up for their concerns.
