Brief review of the Stevens 47:
“The Stevens 47 is a fast, three stateroom cruiser designed in 1981 by Rod Stephens of the legendary Sparkman and Stephens firm. The Stevens 47 is arguably the most well respected bluewater, three stateroom sailboat produced and is apparently highly prized on the brokerage market. Her soft motion in a seaway, swift 200 nautical mile per day passages, and luxurious accommodations are unrivaled by yachts of a comparable vintage."

The Stevens Custom 47 has a reputation as a fast, smooth, and highly capable blue-water cruiser. Her hull is solid fiberglass all the way up to the rail; Airex deck core (no balsa, no wet soft spots). Yard techs replacing the thru-hulls were shocked at how thick the glass was. They had not seen that before on a sailboat… Destiny has already circumnavigated with the previous, original owner. Her living quarters are comfortable and homey with teak throughout. The boat is designed for strength, safety, comfort, and speed. John Kretschmer names the Stevens 47 as one of his highest recommendations as a rare find on the used blue-water cruiser market. There are only a handful left, and are highly regarded as well found and capable.
In early 2020, Destiny experienced a water intrusion event while docked at the marina. Photographs and the report submitted to the insurance company are available upon request. The boat was towed within hours to the closest haulout facility 2 miles away. Cosmetic damage was minimal, electrical & mechanical systems were replaced due to damage. In addition, every through hull fitting and valve was replaced simultaneously.
Destiny is a classic blue-water cruiser with and incredible pedigree. She is equipped with many recent upgrades as a result of this event. The boat needs new canvas bimini and dodger.
